Funding Priorities

Grants are made throughout the fiscal year, on an as-needed basis, to fund requests that:
  • Advance the outcome of permanence for dependent children
  • Promote the mission of the Friends, and
  • Support or are connected to, or complementary to the KCDC
Priorities for funding will vary from time to time. Even though a request meets established criteria, it may not be funded because of limited funds or other priorities. Requests that exceed the annual budget shall not be funded without prior board approval.

Suggested Areas of Support
  • Emotional and psychological health
  • Physical health
  • Training and education
  • Specialized equipment or devices
  • Emergency housing
  • Family reunification
  • Recreation
Recipients
  • Dependent children represented by CASAs from the KCDC and supervised by King County Superior Court
  • No discrimination as to race, religion, sexual orientation, national origin or disability
Grant Requests
  1. must demonstrate specific and direct benefits to dependent children. General expenses are not funded.
  2. Requests must originate from KCDC volunteers with the approval of their respective Assistant Program Managers and the KCDC Program Manager.
Grant Amounts

Individual grant requests shall not exceed $2000.00 without prior board approval.

Limitations
  • Funds are dispersed only upon receipt of an invoice from the service provider or, if funds are reimbursable to an individual, upon receipt of proof of payment.
  • No other funding sources are available at the time of the request
  • Awards shall be made as grants, not as loans.
Impartial Review

The Friends grant-making process is conducted by the Board of Directors in an impartial manner based upon an evaluation of each request. Therefore, solicitation of individual members of the Friends by potential recipients for specific Friends grant requests is discouraged.
