The Mentor/Mentee (New CASA)
- The Mentor is there to assist the new CASA when they have questions regarding the investigation, the reports, court system and different services or agencies available for the children.
- The Mentor is there if the new CASA needs someone to vent to and can’t get a hold of their Supervisor.
- The Mentor is there to give the new CASA words of wisdom regarding how to handle a parent, child, attorney, etc. as well as words of encouragement.
- IF possible the Mentor will be available to attend the first couple of hearings…or invite the new CASA to sit in on one of “Mentors” hearings.
- The Mentor will call and remind the new CASA of on going training dates….i.e. brown bag trainings. The relationship will be whatever you develop it into.
- The Mentor is NOT a replacement for the Supervisor, but to support the Supervisor.
- The Mentor is to refer all legal questions to the Supervisor. The New CASA discusses all legal issues with their Supervisoror attorney.
The Supervisor
- The Supervisor is there to assist the new CASA in all legal matters.
- The Supervisor is there to assist the new CASA with the appropriate reports and examples if they need them.
- The Supervisor is there to vent to and help the CASA through hard and challenging situations.
- The Supervisor is there to give guidelines, procedures and monitor the reports of the CASA.
