How is Friends of CASA funded?

Friends of CASA depends entirely on the generosity of private donors to provide services for children.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes. Friends of CASA is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Our federal tax ID number is 91-1223377.

An IRS donation receipt will be sent to you at either the email address associated with your electronic payment or the mailing address on your check. For recurring monthly donations, a receipt will be sent for each month a donation is received.

Can I donate through an IRA?

Donors 70½ or older can reduce their taxable income by donating through an IRA. If you need to meet a Required Minimum Distribution, IRA gifts can count towards those as well!

Are there other non-cash donation options?

Yes. Non-cash donations can be an excellent way to maximize tax benefits. Common non-cash options include:

  • Grants from a Donor Advised Fund (DAF)

  • Qualified Charitable Donations (QFD) from an IRA (if 70 ½ or older)

  • Publicly Traded Stock

  • In-Kind Donations such as Printing Services

How is Friends of CASA related to the Dependency CASA Program?

Friends of CASA is an independent non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

Our philanthropic focus is children represented by CASAs in the King County Dependency system. However, there is no legal, business or financial affiliation between Friends of CASA and the Dependency CASA Program.
